“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” –Proverbs 14:34 (KJV)
EXPLORATION
Righteousness is a gift of God to anyone who receives Jesus Christ, by Faith, as Lord and personal Savior. It can only be attained by Faith in God, the Faith to believe in the Word of God (The Holy Scriptures) and live a life guided by the Word of God. To keep the gift of righteousness and live a righteous life is a decision that we all have to make ourselves—and, by God’s grace, to live a righteous life is always available to anyone that is willing to live in it.
INSPIRATION
In our last Weekly Digest, we explored how our sins and the sins of everyone can affect generations and nations. But in this Digest we will be exploring the influence of Righteousness in the life of people over the nations.
The Bible revealed how God brought to Abraham’s attention to what HE was about to do to the city of Sodom (Genesis 18: 16-33.) Before this, Abraham, a friend of God, has this account that he was righteous before the Lord. The Bible says, “For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.” –Romans 4:3 (Galatians 3:6)
As we understand God’s conversation with Abraham in the Book of Genesis 18: 16-33, we know that God was ready to spare the city of Sodom—if only HE can find, in the city, Fifty righteous people, or Forty, or Thirty, or Twenty, or maybe even Ten righteous people—but there was none to be found.
Time and time, the effectual fervent prayer of the righteous avails much. (James 5:16). When the righteous people intercede on behalf of a nation and its people, or even a city—God answer their prayers. The nations of the world have not been consumed today even though their sins are greater than that of the city of “Sodom and Gomorrah,” because God is holding on the good work of the generations that have walked righteously before now. HE is extending mercy over this generation because of the fervent interceding prayers of the HIS righteous sons and daughters around the world, who have given themselves to prayer over the nations and their people.
The Bible also revealed, when God wanted to punish King Solomon for the sins has committed unto God and the people of Israel by leading the people to follow after other gods.
“Wherefore the Lord said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant. Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.” -1 Kings 11:11-12
God remembered the good work of David, his father,—how he had served and loved the Lord faithfully—and for this reason God spared Solomon’s generation, until the generation of his children, to pay for the sins of their fathers. How merciful is God? HE is always merciful to those who repent and turn away from their sins and he forgiven their sins—and remembers their sins no more. (Hebrews 8:12, Hebrews 10:16-21)
The Bible also revealed to us, that Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior who was the second Adam—hence, the “first Adam with Eve the first woman” committed sin from the beginning while Jesus Christ the “Second Adam” brought Righteousness and Grace to the world. (John 3:16-17)
The Bible says, “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy; the second man is the Lord from heaven.” –1 Corinthians 15:45-47
He was the perfect Sacrifice that took away the sins of the world (Hebrews 9:23-28). He is our advocate and intercessor—his death and resurrection brought life and righteousness to the sinful world. And he gave life to anyone that received him.
Indeed, righteousness Exalts a nation and sin will always brings reproach to the nation, its people, and their generations. (Proverbs 14:34)
This week: Let us be mindful of God’s gift of righteousness, and grace in our lives. Let us keep dwelling in it and increasing in it because the Lord will use you, and all that are righteous, to transform nations and generations. The Bible says, “The fear of the LORD is a Fountain of Life...” - Proverbs 14:27a
Now take refuge in name of the Lord and be strong. Today, you will Experience a NEW MOVE of GOD’s Glory in your Life. Amen!
Finally, remember the Bible says, “The king's favour is toward a wise servant: but his wrath is against him that causeth shame.” - Proverbs 14:35 (KJV)
“In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge.” -Proverbs 14:26 (KJV)
We are praying for you,
It's our JOY to see you blessed!
