What is your ministry?

1 Timothy 3:5 "If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?"

Most of us think of a ministry in the context of being a "minister" to others in God's work. However if we look at Jesus' ministry he spent most of his time "ministering" to his close friends and family. Sometimes we get so caught up in our "ministry" (job, career, talent) that we neglect those closest to us.

Our ministry to others is certainly important but it is not "necessary". God has thousands that he can dispatch to meet the needs of others and, while we wants and welcomes our service to them, NO ONE can replace us in ministering to our wife, husband, children,  brothers, sisters, mothers, or dads.

Take time to "minister" to those closest to you by putting EVERYTHING (including cell phones) aside for a FEW HOURS (not a few minutes) and spend time with them. If you have not been doing this, take time to tell them about your conviction to do this so they can respond accordingly. Tell them that it is because they are important to you and don't make it sound like you are trying to be a saint or martyr. Schedule it with them and KEEP YOUR WORD.

1 Timothy 3:8 If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

This "ministry" will sew seeds that you will produce an abundance that you will delight in harvesting.

You're blessed!
