The "Reception" of Grace

...continuation from last week.

Receiving God's saving grace require obedience.

For Jesus is "the author (or source) of eternal salvation to all who obey Him," - Heb 5:9. Freedom from sin comes when one is willing to obey from the heart - Rom 6:17-18

Such obedience involves:

• Trusting in Jesus as the Son of God who died for your sins - John 3:16
• Confessing your faith before men - Rom 10:9-10
• Repenting of your sins - Act 17:30
• Culminating with being buried with Christ in baptism for the remission of your sins - Mk 16:15-16; Act 2:38; 22:16

Salvation:

Salvation is by grace, and "not by works of righteousness which we have done" - Titus 3:4-5a

But by God's mercy, He saves us "through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit" - Titus 3:5b

When a repentant sinner, who trusts in Jesus, is baptized into Christ....

• He or she is united with Christ by baptism into His death, and therefore rises to walk in newness of life - Rom 6:3-8
• He or she is "clothed" with Christ, able to enjoy all the blessings made possible by Jesus' death and resurrected life! - Gal. 3:26-27; Heb. 7:24-25
• Through such a "washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit", one is truly "born again of the water and the Spirit!" - Titus 3:5; John 3:5

Conclusion:

God has ordained that through faith and repentance we might receive the wonderful grace of God! God desire that all be saved, and has provided Jesus "a ransom for all" - 1 Timothy 2:3-6
