The Call To Perfection 

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” – Matthew 5:48

EXPLORATION

God wants us to be perfect in all things. In our behaviors, attitude, relationship with others, and in our knowledge of good and bad. But, obviously, many like to hide under the notion that we are people created in flesh and so we cannot be perfect. This is not true, God Himself want to perfect us.

INSPIRATION

The Old Testament confirmed God’s word as HE expects HIS chosen people to be perfect in their relationship with HIM. The Bible says,

"And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the Lord appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect." – Genesis 17:1

Perfection is the state of been complete in all things, without blemish, nor spot. Faultless, if I may say. It is being in a condition of complete excellence.

This is the kind of life we need to live and this kind of life is only possible through Christ Jesus. Hence, we may be having this question running time after time in our hearts, that is, “Am I there yet?’ No!

“Am I reaching higher in Christ to get there?” Yes!

“Is it possible to get there?” Yes! Because the Lord God says so (Genesis 17:1)

The following are the things that we need to take to our hearts to walk in Christ as God calls us to perfection;

• Be Merciful. The Lord wants you to be merciful to others that you also may obtain mercy from the Lord your God. The Bible says, “Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.” – Matthew 5:7
• Love Thy Neighbor, Love Thy Enemies. We must be ready to live a life that is full of the love of God—relating to all that comes our way with the love of God. To love even those who hate us, that is our enemies.

The Bible says “Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” – Matthew 5:43-44

• Always Be Ready to Forgive Other. Unforgiveness is like sin, we must forgive others just as God has forgiven us our sins. Let us forego un-forgiveness and embrace the love of God.

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:” – Matthew 6:14  

• Be A Blessing To Others. God wants each one of us to be a blessing to our world, our generation, and to the body of Christ, The Church!
• Be A Giver. The Bible says, "I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive." - Acts 20:35 Give to those that are in need, help others, and put a joy in someones heart—giving could be, Spiritual, Material, or financial. The Bible says "Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away." - Matthew 5:42 
• Be Obedience To The Lord God. Obedience is very important, you cannot have a relationship with the Lord without been obedience to Him as your God. Our obedience to the Lord is our demonstration of His love in our lives. God in His infinite power as the Almighty God has the power to make the whole world to obey Him if He wanted to, but He doesn’t want us to live like “Robots” to Him. He wants our love which can only come by the demonstration of the Free WILL of God in our lives
• To Live A Holy Life. Holiness is a free gift of the Lord, given unto us when we confess, and receive Jesus Christ into our life and become Born Again of the Spirit of God. It is not what you workout, it is what you are given of the Lord and you must keep it, live in it and let it be our way of life.

Finally, this week: It is possible to walk with the Lord and be perfect, because we have the perfect Spirit of God in us, the Spirit of perfection, the Holy Spirit of the Living God.

“But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” – James 1:4

It time to embrace Him in our lives, and to allow Him to order our ways unto perfection in Christ Jesus. Amen!

Remember, the Bible says, “Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:” – Colossians 1:28 “...always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.” – Colossians 4:12b
