"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." - Matthew 7:22-23

EXPLORATION

The context of the Christian faith includes both the outward confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the practice of a life-quality of inward and outward holiness by the Holy Spirit. So, only the outward verbal profession of faith in Christ can never be enough to secure salvation—but by allowing Christ to be made manifested in our daily living.

INSPIRATION

It is sad to remark that there are some people who desire to be born again and be known as children of God, yet they are not willing to accept the responsibility of what God demands in His word. Rather than submit to doing the Will of God, they try to impress the world with lip service and hypocritical show of religion. They also know that, as a matter of fact, they do not possess the life of the Spirit that the gospel brings to a man's soul. They are such that draw near to God with their mouth and honor Him with their lips but their heart is far from Him. The Bible says: "Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me." - Matthew 15:7-8. They have a form of godliness (religion) but deny the power thereof (2 Timothy 3:5). They don't believe that the power of God can set them free from sin.

With half-hearted commitment or relationship to the Lord they claim that they also belong to the Lord Jesus Christ and indeed earnestly hope to inherit the kingdom of God. But the Bible says: "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity" - 2 Timothy 2:19

It is foolish for anyone to claim that he belongs to the Lord when he/she has not met the conditions for being His own. Jesus said "I know my sheep, and am known of mine" - John 10:14 When a person claims to belong to Jesus but they have not met the conditions for belonging to Him, Jesus will surely deny the impostor whenever the occasion arises. "Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven." - Matthew 10:31-32.

This what Jesus says: "And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it." - Luke 11:27-28 (John 10:17)

"He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked." - (1 John 2:4-6) Read also (Ephesians 4:21-32).

It is true that the gifts and calling of God are without repentance (Romans 11:29). Yes! ...could be the gift of prophecy, or the gift of casting out of devils, or the gift of speaking in other tongues. It should be known that receiving spiritual gifts and their manifestations don't attract as much spiritual responsibility as in obeying the word of God and living a holy life. This requires humble faith and grace from God. (James 4:5-10). Spiritual gift is not the credential or qualification for entering the kingdom of God. But a life that truly represent Christ Jesus in Grace and in the Love of God.

Remember Jesus said, For they shall say "...Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?" - Matthew 7:22. "... I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." - Matthew 7:23

This week: We should understand that what qualifies a person to belong to the Lord and thereby inherit his Kingdom is not spiritual gifts and their manifestations to impress the people, but by receiving the Christ as their savior and surrendering their life to him. The Bible says: "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." - 1 Corinthians 13:12-13. As we do this God will reveal himself in our lives and we will see miracles in our lives ...deliverance ...breakthrough ...love of God ...divine favor and divine health. Amen!

Remember, the Bible says: "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity." - 2 Timothy 2:19
