Trusting God For The Gift Of Heaven!

"And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived. And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If it be so, why am I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD. And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger." - Genesis 25:21-23

The Holy Scripture reveals to us that Isaac was forty years when he married Rebekah. Though Rebekah was indeed God's chosen wife for Isaac, they did not have a child for twenty years. (Genesis 25:26)

EXPLORATION

  • a) Abraham sent his servant to his kindred to take a wife for Isaac. (Genesis 24: 1-7)
  • b) In his entire journey, Abraham's servant prayed for divine guidance in every step he took choosing a wife for his master's son Isaac. (Genesis 24:10-14)
  • c) In answer to his prayer God provided Rebekah. (Genesis 24:15-27)
  • d) While Abraham's servant was away from home, and prayed on the way for God's guidance in the choice of a wife for Isaac, Isaac himself was out in the field meditating and perhaps, in prayer of intercession for God's guidance of his father's servant in the choice of a wife for him. (Genesis 24:63)
  • e) With the prayer of Isaac and that of his father's servant, we can rightly conclude that Rebekah was God's chosen wife for Isaac.

INSPIRATION

It has been observed that after some Christians would have prayerfully chosen life partners, because childbearing does not follow immediately, they imagine or erroneously jump into the conclusion that their marriage is not according to the will of God.

Nobody is God's counselor. God is perfect in knowledge and knows us more than we know ourselves. He knows what is best for us and works to fulfill his purpose concerning us. According to his goodness and mercy, he will bless us with the desires of our hearts, even though the blessing may be delayed. His promise is that there shall be no barren among his people.

The Bible says: "Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle." - Deuteronomy 7:14

Isaac held on to that promise and persisted in prayer. We should always be assured of God's loving faithfulness and never be double minded or turn to any other thing else for help but continue to trust God in prayer.

The Bible says: "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." - 1 Peter 5:7

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." - Philippians 4:6

So "Isaac intreated the Lord for his wife ...and the Lord was intreated of him and Rebekah his wife conceived". (Genesis 25:21)

This week: As we all prepared to celebrate the GIFT OF GOD given to the whole world. That the Angels of the LORD declare PEACE! And JOY! To all! "And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." -Luke 2:13-14

We say to you all JOY! PEACE! And RIGHTEOUSNESS! In the HOLY GHOST! (Romans 14:17)

God has not forgotten you and what you are going through. In HIS promises to you HE said: "There shall nothing cast their young, nor be barren, in thy land: the number of thy days I will fulfil." -Exodus 23:26.

Hence whatever our need may be, it could be that you are trusting the LORD for a child, husband or wife, employment or business success, could be a need for peace in the family, progress of our children in school, healing of the body, deliverance from Satanic oppression, we should trust God for the solution or provision.

Isaac prayed for his wife to conceive and bear a child. It is not clear in scripture for how long he prayed, but it was only after twenty years that Rebekah conceived. It is edifying to know that God, by and by answered Isaac's prayer. We need to patiently wait on the Lord and not fret; He shall surely give us the desires of our hearts at the appropriate time.

Remember Jesus says: "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive." - Matthew 21:22 (Mark 11:24)

You are blessed, we love you!
