Christianity Is Not Morality - Bliss & Fire Network Weekly Digest - June 30, 2015

"For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth." - Romans 10:3-4.

EXPLORATION

Definition: Moral is the adjective that qualifies the character or conduct of a person considered as good or that which conforms to what is right or ethical as supported by human reasoning. A MORALIST is one who teaches morals or practices moral duties.

LAW is a pattern of living set for the people of a particular community or nation. So, to be right in the sight of men, one has to keep the law of the land. But we know that in some cases, the law of man may not be in the general interest of the people in a community or nation and sometimes contrary to the law of God. There are also laws set forth in the bible by God to be observed by man. So no one can pretend not to know what God demands of us. God's law is indeed ultimate.

INSPIRATION

God is not only interested in the outward observance of the law but also the inward that is in the heart. The Bible says: "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." - James 2:10. But can man keep the law of God by his own power? Of course not! It takes faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the help of the Holy Spirit in man to be able to keep the law of God for the law of God is spiritual.

It so happens that there are many people who, due to lack of faith in the existence of God and his word, have gone around to formulate their own type of righteousness by trying to be morally good in keeping the law of man and feeling justified. Their notion is that there is no way anyone can know who God is and what he demands. To such people the Bible says: "...Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)" - Romans. 10:6-7. This is another way some people doubt the existence of God and the resurrection of Jesus Christ this attitude is AGNOSTIC, that is, the view that there is no way anyone can prove the existence of God or the resurrection of Jesus, so why bother. Consequently, they go on to establish their own standard of righteousness based on depraved, self-centered, finite human reasoning while discarding God's holy standard which is the ultimate. The Bible says: "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth" - Romans 10:3-4.

Anyone who holds this view in the name of being a moralist, and wants justification through obeying the law of man or by doing what he believes is good is denying God and His word and he is not better than the AGNOSTIC or ATHEIST. These are anti-Christ. These are the spiritual conditions of such people:

• (a) They are concerned more with the outward observance of the law of man.
• (b) They do not consider the more important spiritual aspect of man which is the state of the mind.
• (c) They can afford to keep malice, hatred, envy, bitterness in their mind since these evil things cannot be seen by the ordinary eye of man.
• (d) Whenever they are overwhelmed by the pressure of any need in life, they go to seek the help of other gods, thereby denying the lordship of Jesus.
• (e) They cannot please God because they do not believe God or obey his word.
• (f) Because they cannot please God, they cannot enjoy his salvation, protection, guidance, healing, deliverance or any other blessing of God.
• (g) They die and go to hell where there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth forever.

Those who come to God with faith in His word and the account He has given of His Son Jesus Christ shall be saved, born again, and inherit God's blessings and kingdom. The Bible says: "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life." - 1 John 5:11-12. God shall be their Father and he will care for them as such. By the enabling power of the Spirit of God they freely and easily obey God and enjoy working for him as dear children and He will give them victory over their foes.

Finally the Bible says: "But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." - Romans 10:8-10

This week: The Holy Spirit is prepared to take you to another level in life, a new level of transformation, stability and fulfillment—a level beyond morality. Morality is a life in which people struggle to do good things and be justified by it. But Christianity is living a life that is empowered by the Spirit of God to live above sin and the forces of darkness. It is the one approved by God.

Remember: The Bible says: "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." - Romans 10:4
