Inter-Dependence Of Spiritual Gifts In The Ministry

"For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another." - Romans 12:3-5

EXPLORATION

Spiritual gifts and their manifestation as recorded in the Bible are present with us today. We thank God for Holy Spirit Baptism which makes this phenomenon more evident. Seek to be baptized with the Holy Spirit and your own spiritual gift shall become obvious as you commit yourself to the service of the Lord. The Bible says: "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" - Luke 11:13  (Acts 19:l-12).

INSPIRATION

Paul explains that "...as we have many members in one body and all members have not the same office; so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and everyone member one of another " Rom 12:4-5. Paul uses the structure and inter-dependent functions of the various organs of the natural human body to explain how, as members of the body of Christ (The Church ) we possess and manifest different spiritual gifts, which as a matter of fact, are also inter-dependent. So, no one person can be self-sufficient with the manifestation of only his own spiritual gift. "And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee, nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:.." - 1 Corinthians 12:21-24. We need each other's spiritual gift to be effective in the ministry of the gospel. No matter how insignificant the gift may be, it is important for the building and edifying of the body of Christ and the perfecting of saints. (Ephesians 4:12) God reckons with them all.

Come to think of it, no one works to earn a gift. It is given by another person's grace or goodwill in the same token believers in Christ are given spiritual gifts by the grace of God. Therefore no one can boast of deserving spiritual gifts because it is not of works, but by grace. The Bible says: "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."  - James 1:17. Paul says: "... that every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think ..." - Romans 12:3.

It is important to address the other side of spiritual gifts. Everyone should thank God for whatever gift he is blessed with and not be envious of another man's gift. "Having then gift differing according to the grace given to us, whether prophecy let us prophecy according to the proportion of faith; or ministry, let us wait on our ministry or he that teacheth, on teaching ..." -  Romans 12:6-8.

This week: I have a question for you to answer to yourself. Have you buried your talent or gift because you envy the gifts of others or have allowed some problems or needs in your life to overwhelm you such that you are discouraged and unwilling to continue waiting on your ministry? Read what Jesus said in Matthew 25:14-30.

The Bible says: "Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth." - Hosea 6:1-3.

Remember the Bible says: "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." - 1 Peter 4:10-11

We are praying for you,

It's our JOY to see you blessed!
