Soul Winning: A Must For The Believer

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?” - Romans 10:13-14

EXPLORATION

Evangelism which we can also call Soul Winning can be defined as the practice of preaching and presenting the Gospel of Jesus Christ to people (especially non-Christians) that they may believe in Jesus as Lord and Savior of their lives and receive the forgiveness of sin and have inheritance in the kingdom of God.

INSPIRATION

THE REASON FOR EVANGELISM
We understand by the Holy Bible how man sinned against God, God's judgment upon the sinner, man's need for salvation, and God's provision of grace for man's redemption.  The Bible says: "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness." - Romans 1:18 (Romans 6:23. Ezekiel 18:10, Isaiah 24:1-6, Psalm 9:17, Isaiah 34:4, Colossians 3:6, Romans 1:l 8, 1 Peter 3:10-11) Likewise the Bible says: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”- John 3:16

Gospel means Good news. The good news of God's love and power to forgive, save, and deliver the sinner from temporal and eternal punishment.

What could have happened if the Gospel is not preached even though God has offered salvation to man through His Son Jesus Christ? I believe no one would have been saved. The preaching of the Gospel is the declaration of God's offer of salvation to persuade men to accept this offer for his own good. It involves leading the listener to a decision to accept Christ as Lord and Savior of his life. If the gospel has not been preached what would have been the faith of many believers today? Of course it would have been terrible!

God started it all. One could see that after man sinned against God through disobedience; he tried to hide from God's presence. But God sought them out and clothed them with coats of skin. Thus God became the first Evangelist to go out in search of sinners in the garden. (Genesis 3:3-9)

Noah also proclaimed the Gospel, He spent over ninety years of his years on earth evangelizing, seeking the lost soul.  Indeed Noah was born to bring the message of salvation from the flood, which unfortunately was rejected by his generation. (Genesis 6:1 – 13)

The work of soul winning also continued in the New Testament through Jesus Christ. He worked like the Father, also seeking the lost. John 5:17, 19-20. (Luke 19:10, Matthew 18:12-14). He enjoined his disciples to do the same work of evangelizing as he said “All power is given unto me in heaven and earth ...” - Matthew 28:18

“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” - Mark 16:15 He further said “Ye have not chosen me but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit should remain: ...” - John 15:16

This week: Are you going to do your part? Are you going to speak to your families, friends, and your neighbors about the Love of God? The power is given unto to you to speak by faith. God trusts you to take a step today to share the gospel with someone and you will see God working through you.  HE has ordained that should go and bring forth fruit and that your fruit should remain. (John 15:16)

Remember the Bible says: “And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things.” - Romans 10:15
