Growing in Faith (Part 1)

"Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" - Romans 10:17

EXPLORATION

Definition: Biblical Faith is the spiritual quality by which men are held in a relationship of confidence in God. It is the practical submission of the entire man to the guidance and control of divinely revealed truth and this truth is contained in the Holy Bible. - (James 2:17, 19). When God created Adam and Eve, they did not need faith in God because they were already in fellowship with and totally submissive to his will. (1 Corinthians 13:12-13). But God has given man WILL POWER, i.e. the ability to decide or determine to do what he wishes or desires. What man does or desires is based, to a large extent, on the knowledge acquired through the use of the five senses - hearing, smelling, seeing, tasting and feeling. His reasoning therefore operates within the realm of his senses. The Bible also tell us that: "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

INSPIRATION

Man's WILL-POWER or BELIEVING POWER is not the same thing as Biblical Faith because man believes only what he sees, hears, tastes, feels or smells. His reasoning, logic and desires are thus limited to what his senses can offer. And the Bible says: "The natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness unto him neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned." -1 Corinthians 2:14.

Nevertheless; the bible says: "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God" - Romans. 10:17(KJV). Man has the power both to hear and to believe. So, he can both hear and believe the gospel. Man, in his disobedience, sinned against God. On hearing the gospel, he also needs to submit the same will in believing and obeying the gospel. Man with his disobeyed and sinned against God. On hearing the gospel, he also needs to submit the same will in believing and obeying the gospel. Then and only then will the Holy Spirit give him the inner ability or FAITH to appreciate God's love in sending His Son Jesus Christ to die to save us from our sin and also know that we ought to repent and believe the gospel. With this Spirit - inspired FAITH, he gets an indisputable conviction that he is a child of God. The Bible says: "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together." - Romans 8:16-17. From then on, he accepts the word of God as the truth that must guide and control his life.

The word of God covers every aspect of man's life. So, in his day to day living, he needs to obey or apply the word of God. From the foregoing, we can see that the inner ability or FAITH by which the believer lives according to the word of God and depends on His promises is a SPIRITUAL QUALITY that only God gives through the indwelling of the Spirit as he believes in Jesus Faith as fruit of the Spirit needs to grow from one stage to higher levels, and there are different kinds of faith - Saving Faith, Overcoming Faith, Great Faith and Strong Faith. No wonder the disciples of Jesus Christ said to Him: "Lord increases our Faith" Luke 17:5.

This Week: We need to step up and grow in faith, many thing that God as appointed for you is yet to manifest because you only rely on your five senses, and God is calling you to walk with HIM in Faith. Beloved, YOU can do it, YES YOU CAN!. The doors are open already but waiting for your faith waiting for you to put together your "faith and work". (James 2:26)

We encourage you, to look back or reflect on these things you have put before God and how God, in diverse ways, has spoken to you to move forward. Or maybe you have not yet recognized that HE has spoken. Well HE will speak again, but you just be attentive. For the Bible says: "But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers." - John 10:2-5 (KJV)

Remember: YOU can do it, YES YOU CAN! The Bible says: "For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also." - James 2:26 (KJV)
