The Deception Of The Old Prophet - Bliss & Fire Network Weekly Digest - June 10, 2014

  |   Author: Pastor Wales Goriola

“… For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest. He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him. So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water.” - 1 Kings 13:16-19 Read (1 Kings 13:1-25)

EXPLORATION

Obedience to the word of God must "Not", and should not be "Compromised". There will always be a thousand and one reasons not to obey. It is ours to choose Life for Life come by the obedience to the word of God.

INSPIRATION

Believe the prophet but obey only the voice of the Lord GOD. There are many men and women of God out there who starter their journey gloriously and powerfully, after they have accustom their self with Lord and the blessings of the Lord. They then begin to choose the blessings of God over God. Then God HIMSELF choses to be silent to them and raise other men and women in their place. The same people will go to any length to protect their pride and dignity. But by so doing – some time deceive many and remain the final authority over the young preacher or prophet instead of God.

They don’t want other prophet or servant of God to be greater than them.

These people have chosen to build a monument for themselves and not for God. The devil has lured them into pride. The old prophet mention in the 1 Kings 13:1-25 represented many prophets, old believers, preachers, elders and respected leaders in the body who are jealous over the way God has been using you, the working of miracles, signs,  and wonders working in your Life. They tend to use their experience to manipulate you and your ministry.

In this manner many ministries have failed or lost the fire to walk their vision.

Here we see God confirming the word of the young prophet:

"And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him. The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD" - 1 Kings 13:4-5

When God spells out an instruction for you, HE also wants you to carry it out as HE has instructed you by HIS HOLY SPIRIT.  You have to be ready to follow all HE has commanded you. If you lack understanding, go back to HIM. HE will surely put you right. Obedience to the end is very important in the Christian Journey with the LORD.

Samuel says: "And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams." -1 Samuel 15:22

Do not go asking an old prophet or preacher what God has for you to do. Rather let their word you receive be a confirmation of what you have heard from the Lord your GOD.

Don’t get me wrong, I know many preachers or ministers of the gospel will want to hear from their spiritual mentor or father. This is very good but never let this overrule the word of God for you. Likewise some mentors are like Eli they want to hear everything God has told you. They are ready to use your weak point against you. Remember this; they see it as training you but God sees it as deception.

Here is what Eli said: "Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I. And he said, What is the thing that the LORD hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee. And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good." -1 Samuel 3:16-18

Finally, let us be careful, watchful, and wise in the thing of the spirit, because God may use the same old prophet or preacher to pronounce judgment over you when you chose to disobey the Lord your GOD.

"And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came unto the prophet that brought him back: And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandment which the LORD thy God commanded thee, But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the Lord did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers." -1 Kings 13:20-22

This week: God is looking for the doer and keeper of HIS word, someone who will never negotiate the spoken word of God with any being nor compromise their God given assignment with any person or situation. Are you that person? If so, lift up your hands in prayer and ask God to grant you the grace to fulfill your ministry gloriously. Amen!

Remember the Bible says: "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." -Galatians 1:8

You are blessed, we love you!
