The Narrow Way To Life (Part 2) - Bliss & Fire Network Weekly Digest - Success Scripture August 25, 2009

"Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." - Matthew 7:13-14

EXPLORATION

From last week's Digest we saw that in these two verses of scripture, Jesus revealed that there are two different ways in this world and each of us is certainly walking on one of the two. One is the bad way of sin, and the other the good way of holiness. That is, of right or wrong, good or evil, one is the way to heaven, the other, the way to hell. You must be walking on one of these two ways because there is no middle ground either now or hereafter. It is either the best or the worst.

We considered:

• (a) The wide gate and the broad way
• (b) The strait gate

INSPIRATION

And this week we are considering:

THE NARROW WAY

A few people find and choose the narrow way:

• Many people bye pass this narrow way through carelessness because they feel okay with their sinfulness and won't bother to look for it. The Bible says: "The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead." - Proverbs 21:16 (Psalm 58:3, Lamentations 4:14)
• They won't take any pain to look for it being distracted and deceived by the pleasure of sin and the vanity of material wealth. The Bible says: "He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful." - Matthew 13:22, (Luke 15:12-13, 1 Timothy 6:17)
• Others look upon it and shun it because they do not want to be restrained or limited. The Bible says:"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil." - John 3:19 (Proverbs 2:14, 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12)
• Some do not want to be singled out of the crowd for fear of being solitary or lonely. The Bible says: "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." - Romans 12:2 (Exodus 23:2, Deuteronomy 12:30, 1 Samuel 8:19-20)

But for, those who love eternal life and eternal bliss have an incumbent duty to find the narrow way. The way could be uphill but in it, we have the favor and comfort of God, even in this present world. (Hebrews 11:13-16)

We are not in heaven as soon as we have gotten through the strait gate.

• We must take a life-time journey through the narrow way. It is like traveling through a wilderness with thorns and thistles.
• Self must be denied and daily temptations resisted. (Philippians 3:7-10, James 1:12, Matthew 5:10 - 12).
• Duties must be done that are against our inclination and we must endure hardness. (Romans 1:16, 1 Corinthians 9:16, 2 Timothy 4:2).
• We must wrestle against forces of darkness and at times in agony. By being sober, vigilant, praying always without ceasing with care and circumspection. (Ephesians 6:10 - 18, 1 Peter 5:8, 1 Timothy 6:12).
• We must go through much tribulation and suffer violence but we shall need to take it by force. (Acts 14:22, Matthew11:12).

We can neither go in nor go on without divine grace in Jesus Christ. It is true that His grace is freely offered but we need to seek and submit to it and be like little children to find the way. (Proverbs 3:5, Matthew 18:3, Ephesians 2:8-10) The Bible says: "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" - Titus 3:5.

At the end of the narrow way are life, abundant life, everlasting life and eternal bliss- This should challenge us to ask for the way, to seek and to knock on the door and it shall be opened unto you. The Bible says: "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." - Galatians 6:9 (Jeremiah 6:16, Isaiah 55:6-7, Hebrews 12:2-3).

This week. You have to make a decision on which way to go - the way of life or the way of destruction. Jesus counsels us, like a gentle warning - "Enter in at the strait gate..." - Matthew 7:13a.

Remember: The Bible says: "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." - Hebrews 12:1-2
